The Karlovy Vary International Film Festival is the largest film festival in the Czech Republic and the most prestigious film festival in Central and Eastern Europe. As one of the oldest festivals, it is classified in Category A (a non-specialized festival with a competition for feature films), alongside renowned festivals such as Cannes, Berlin, Venice, San Sebastián, Moscow, Montreal, Shanghai, and Tokyo.
Each year, the festival showcases around 200 films from all over the world and regularly hosts famous and influential filmmakers. The Karlovy Vary IFF is open to both the general public and film professionals, offering visitors a carefully curated program, high-quality facilities, and a wide range of services.
The world’s best triathletes line up at the start of the Karlovy Vary CITY TRIATHLON. As part of the World Cup (ITU), this elite race welcomes the greatest Czech and global triathlon stars every year. The programme also includes races for amateur athletes, children and their parents.
The race course is renowned not only for its difficult profile, but also for its beautiful setting in the historic city centre. This makes it one of the most attractive races in the world triathlon calendar.

This year, one of the biggest sports events Mattoni ½ Marathon Karlovy Vary returns to its traditional May date. The race will be held in 4 categories - DM Family Run, Half Marathon, Relay 10+11, Relay 3x5 + 1x6.
Šestý ročník úspěšného festivalu Thermal Street Food Market se uskuteční 11. a 12.září před hotelem Thermal. U betonové dominanty Karlových Varů zaparkují food trucky a představí se i další street food projekty z celé České republiky. Stali jsme se hlavní food zónou dechberoucí světelné přehlídky Vary Září, jejichž instalace budete obdivovat na různých místech v centru Karlových Varů. V našem putovním tetovacím studiu se necháte potetovat nebo můžete ve foyer Velkého sálu obdivovat díla místních umělců. Letos spolupracujeme s Westart, se kterými se snažíme představit známé i méně známé umělce, DJ, tanečníky a další performery v kraji. Street food, umění a rozzářené Vary nebudou to jediné, co vás oslní. Po celé dva dny budete ochutnávat kuchyně napříč celým světem, a to jak ze speciálně upravených vozidel, tzv. food trucků, tak z různých stánků. Na pultech budou streetfoodové klasiky jako langoše, burgery, hot dogy či tacos. Na své si přijdou i milovníci orientální kuchyně, kuchaři připraví na rozpáleném woku pad thai, dáte si korejský corndog nebo vietnamský bůček. Zakončit to můžete u sklenky dobrého vína, prosecca nebo originálních koktejlů.
A unique exhibition of photographs by Tono Stano presents both traditional and previously unseen portraits of prominent guests of the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival, captured over many years. Among the most famous names featured in his photographs are Morgan Freeman, Uma Thurman, Willem Dafoe, Jude Law, Woody Harrelson, John Malkovich, Scarlett Johansson, Sharon Stone, and many others.
The Glagolitic Mass is one of the most powerful spiritual compositions in the history of music. Janáček was 72 when he set an Old Church Slavonic text to music whilst staying in the spa town Luhačovice. Under the baton of Semyon Bychkov, the Czech Philharmonic will perform it in another spa town: Karlovy Vary.
At the end of the holiday season, in the beautiful spa surroundings the World Cup race will take place for the seventh time!
